Tiny Undyne by Dragons-are-the-best
My name is Undyne. I am the captain of the Royal Guard that protects the Underground. This is the story of how I became known as the hero of monsters.

I was a young fish girl living with a turtle monster named Gerson. I heard him tell stories of his days as the Hammer of Justice. Nowadays he just excavates lost history and runs a shop in Waterfall. I occasionally help him with the shop. I was inspired by his stories about the Delta Rune's prophecy and his days as a warrior and wanted to be like him when I grew up! I wanted to be a great hero of justice. A warrior among warriors. I wanted to become a great knight that can serve his majesty, King Asgore. I asked Gerson how I could do that.
"Hey, Gerson! How do I become a hero like you?!"
    "Ahh... ambitious, are you?"
I can understand why he would say that. I always was a very hotheaded girl. Never mind that, I needed a way to follow my dreams!
"Yes!!! I want to be a hero! Where do I start!?"
"Hmm... well, if I were you, I would ask King Fluffybuns himself to teach me what it means to be a hero. Knowing you, you'd upright challenge him to a duel."
"King Asgore? Alright! To the castle!!"
    "Ah, wait! Undyne!"
I immediately started running all the way to the castle, leaving Gerson behind. I ran out of Waterfall, through that extremely sweaty Hotland, up the Core, all the way to "New Home." Asgore was really terrible at naming things, but he was the leader in the war against humans and monsters so he was a great warrior. Teaching directly under him would be an honor. I couldn't wait to be his student! Or even better, his opponent in battle! I couldn't wait! I then charged right into the throne room where the king himself and his queen sat on their thrones, surrounded by golden flowers.
"King Asgore! I challenge you to a duel! If I lose, I will become your student in the art of heroism!"
    "Oh my..!"
    "Oh dear..."
Okay, I do admit that was a little over the top. I can't believe my excitement got the best of me. Gerson was right. I did challenge him. I can see his surprise and confusion clearly on his face. Same thing with the queen. And I just noticed the children that were playing in the field had started staring at me in surprise as well. One was the true prince of the Dreemurr family, a monster, while the other was a human child they adopted.
"Well don't just sit there! Do you accept?!"
"Haha. Well here's an interesting child. Very well, I accept."
"Asgore, are you really going to harm a little girl?"
"Don't worry, Tori. Nobody will be harmed."
Wait, what is his majesty suggesting? Ah what the hell! I've gone far enough not to care how it plays out. I will win and if not, I get to be his student and disciple. We have the queen and their children as our witnesses and audience. The field is set. It's time to battle!
    "Ready, miss?"
"I've been ready my whole life, your majesty!
    "Hehe... Okay."
    "EN GUARDE!!!"
I summon a magic spear into my hands and charge right at him with it. Asgore runs to the left and avoids my attack. Another charge. He dodges. I then rush in for close quarters combat. It's then that he takes out a glowing red trident and holds it in both hands. I go in for a jab at his golden chest plate, but he parries it! I bring my spear back for an overhead slash, but he brings his trident in front of him to block the attack. Why is he avoiding my attacks? Better question, why is he not fighting back? Isn't this a duel?! We keep doing this for a few minutes, I attack, he dodges and blocks, until I am completely exhausted and on my knees. I now know what he meant by "Nobody will be harmed." He meant that he would not harm me by being completely on defense. That way he would tire me out.
    "Looks like I win."
    "Haa... haa... you coward..."
I can hear his queen and his prince applauding his "victory." I don't get it. How did he win without making a move? I knew his strength was formidable, but he wasn't going all-out! I hate that!
"I know what you're thinking. You are confused as to why I didn't fight back. Do you wish to know how to beat me?"
    "H-huh..? Y-yes."
"Become my disciple and I will teach you. What is your name?"
    "It's Undyne."
This is it. I lost, thus, I would become his disciple and learn under him. Yet, funnily enough, I'm not mad about this. He may be an idiot, but he's an idiot with a big heart. This was the first step in my journey to becoming the hero of monsters.
A little bonus story in the Undertale series. Undyne was always my favorite character because of how she's a ridiculous warrior girl. Nobody can tame those anime protagonists! Her backstory always somehow appealed to me and I wanted to put my interpretation on the internet for your pleasure. The picture is drawn by Dragons-are-the-best.
Headbang!
